End of the year

February 3, 2009

<End of the year>

It’s already the end of the year, and it’s interesting how fast time goes. A while before I was first inside the 6-4 classroom, chatting with new friends, and now, I’m already a MIddle Schooler ; which requires more responsibility, more intellegence, and more cleverness. Becoming a Middle Schooler is fun and exciting, but also so difficult an burdening. How will I turn in a second, from a little Elementary schooler into a mature first grade Middle Schooler?

   I don’t know exactly, but there are ‘rumors’ that there are seniors in the Middle schools who torture you by pressing you to be ‘good first graders’ and don’t try to stand up against the students older than you. And for I’m going to Kang-Nam, it’s also going to be a pressure to be a hard-studying student, going to academies like every Middle schooler in Korea.

   There are so many ‘maybe’s in my mind- maybe I’m not going to maintain my scores in Elementary school. Maybe I’m going to sleep only 4 hours like many Middle Schoolers do. Maybe, I’ll fail the test. Maybe… what? Everything’s a possibility. Everything’s ‘not’ impossible. That’s the most worrying part in Middle School life.

    Anyways, happy new year, and congratulations for becoming a Middle Schooler!!!!!

 Travel Fair

    To say broadly, the travel fair was exciting. Many students prepared food, posterboards, and lots of information sheets along with cultural activities. Though it was a short time to ‘absorb’ all the facts, it was a good time to take a brief look around the world.

<The good things>

 1. I could take a brief look around the world by reading the short facts about countries

 2. I learned a lot from the activity sheet from Mr. Voborsky- Great.

 3. By preparing I learned a lot about EGYPT.

 < Bad things >

 1. Some(or many) people only paid interest on food and beverage.

 2. Our cultural activities could not be held.

Travel Egypt 5- Alexandria

December 9, 2008

  Alexandria

Alexandria was known for the Light of Alexandria, one of the Seven wonders of the ancient world and the Library of Alexandria (the largest library in the ancient world) and the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa ,one of the Seven wonders of the Middle ages.

   You may go to the Royal Montanza garden to look at magnificent flowers, and to the Alexandria zoo and many other leisure parks.

   Diving in the Red sea&the Mediterrainian

The Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba offers some of the greatest places for diving and snorkeling in the world. There are several resorts for diving here, Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada are the most famous. Dahab is a third strong candidate, together with several smaller resorts. If you want service go for the big places, if you want to be alone with the ocean, check the smaller places.

   One good thing is that the money’s much cheaper than diving in other nations.

Fun Shopping in Egypt

    Egypt is a wonderland of shopping opportunities.

    There are large markets such as  Khan el-Khalili, as well as other small stores scattered through the cities in Egypt. Especially in Cairo’s streets, you can shop everything; from alabaster of Luxor to fine clothing and jewerly from Alexandria.

     In Khan el-Khalili and other local markets, you will be able to buy special Egyptian goods that you can keep your memory of Egypt in; such as traditional clothings and instruments.

While in big cities like Cairo and Alexandria, you can easily find big,modern shopping malls that sell all the clothes, jewerly, and accessories cheaper than in your country.

  Egypt2- Ancient Egypt&Egyptian history

    Egypt is one of the four places where early civilization rose. An unified kingdom was made in BC 3150 by King Menes, which became ancient Egypt. Egypt flourished in art,science,building,language, and customs. The artifacts the Egyptians left makes sure that the Egyptian empire achieved many superior cultures, including the pyramids, that show great development in math and geometry.  Egyptian religion believed in many gods, including Orisis, Set, Matt, and the belief in afterdeath world.

     After the fall of Egyptian empire, the land was ruled by the Byzantine realm, and Egypt got touch with Christianity. Then the Muslim invaded Egypt. The muslims not only brought their culture, but the Sunni belief. The Egyptians succeeded to mix the indigenous beliefs with the new Islam beliefs. This made a special kind of Islam culture of Egypt.

     In the modern ages, Egypt was conquered by France. But through revolution Egypt gained independence.
